Molex NearStack PCIe Connector System and Cable Assemblies use twinax cables to deliver a PCB alternative optimized for height, PCB density, and robustness while enabling the implementation of PCIe Gen-5 32Gbps data rates. Right-angle and vertical cable assemblies provide design flexibility with more options for cable routing. The integrated metal latch on this cable connector engages with a metal cage on the PCB connector creating a robust positive latch when mated; also offered with a pull tab release feature. The NearStack PCIe’s protected interface protects signal pins from “scoop” mating and angled misalignment of up to 6°. The metal housing on the plug allows for a positive thumb latch interface and a solder tail attachment, providing rugged, reliable PCB retention. A unique contact interface with flexing beams on the NearStack cable receptacle affords no chance for preloaded beam relaxation through reflow. This interface means these systems have less potential for damage to the hard-to-rework PCB side and offer reduced stub lengths compared to traditional cantilevers on PCB pads. Applications for Molex NearStack PCIe Connector System and Cable Assemblies include data centers, servers, storage, high-performance computing, and accelerator hardware (graphics, AI).
