u-blox XPLR-AOA-2 Explorer Kit is designed to evaluate and experiment with BLUETOOTH® 5.1 direction-finding technology for indoor positioning use cases. The Explorer Kit includes four C211 antenna boards with a NINA-B411 module and four C209 tags with a NINA-B406 module. The XPLR-AOA-2 Explorer Kit uses the antenna boards (C211) and the tags (C209) along with the necessary software to evaluate the Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) technology for high accuracy positioning indoors. An anchor point containing an antenna array that is connected to a Bluetooth receiver can utilize the AoA technology. This helps in detecting the direction, or angle, of a moving tag transmitting a signal with an appended Constant Tone Extension (CTE). This explorer kit calculates the position of the tag by triangulating the directions from three or more anchor points.
The XPLR-AOA-2 Explorer Kit calculates the angle using the u-connectLocate software that runs on the embedded MCU in NINA-B411. The Explorer Kit can use the direction-finding feature along with the robust communication link and low current consumption offered by Bluetooth to build highly accurate indoor positioning systems.
