U-blox M2-JODY-Wx M.2 Wi-Fi®/BLUETOOTH® Expansion Cards are M.2 Type 2230 Key E, built around NXP SoCs, and can plug into NXP i.MX processor evaluation kits. The M2-JODY-Wx devices include the M2-JODY-W3, which is for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, and the M2-JODY-W2 card that is for is for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5. These M2-JODY-Wx M.2 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Expansion Cards are ideal for use in industrial automation, vehicle navigation and telematics, in-vehicle infotainment/hands-free audio, remote diagnostics/patient monitoring, security cameras, and payment terminals.
The M2-JODY-W3 (Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 type) features an onboard NXP 88Q9098 chipset that supports IEEE 802.11ax and runs concurrent dual-band Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5GHz networks using dual MACs and 2×2 MIMO antenna set-up in each band. Functionality includes simultaneous access point, station, or Wi-Fi Direct modes. Bluetooth support includes dual-mode Bluetooth 5.1 Classic and LE, as well as a long-range operation option. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be operated simultaneously.
The M2-JODY-W2 Expansion Card (Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 type) offers an NXP 88W8987 chipset that supports IEEE 802.11ac, with dual-band Wi-Fi to 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. Functionality includes simultaneous access point, station, or Wi-Fi Direct modes. Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy 5 are supported, and dual-port simultaneous operation of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is also.
The M2 cards are also compatible with i.MX embedded system boards built by NXP partners. For boards without an M.2 socket, u-blox offers a microSD-to-M.2 adapter that connects to a standard microSD socket and a microSD-to-SD adapter for boards with a standard SD socket.
