Texas Instruments TPS7H4001EVM-CVAL Converter Evaluation Module (EVM) demonstrates how the TPS7H4001-SP buck converter can provide point-of-load (POL) currents up to 18A. This feature is for applications where tight regulation tolerance is imperative, such as powering ASICs and FPGAs. The evaluation module is configured in a default state to accept a 5V input. Still, it can be modified to disable or change the under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection, allowing for an input voltage from 3V to 7V. The evaluation module is also configured for a 1V output at a maximum peak output current of 18A. Again, the regulated output voltage can be modified by changing one resistor on the board. The Texas Instruments TSP7H4001-SP has dedicated soft-start, enable, and adjustable slope compensation pins providing design flexibility to meet specific application requirements.
