Texas Instruments TPS715A Low-Dropout (LDO) Linear Voltage Regulators are low-quiescent current devices that offer the benefits of low-power operation and a wide input voltage range in miniaturized packaging. Thus, the TPS715A is designed for power-management attachment to low-power microcontrollers and battery-powered applications.
The TPS715A is available in both fixed and adjustable versions. The adjustable version uses external feedback resistors to set the output voltage from 1.205V to 15V for more flexibility or higher output voltages. The TPS715A LDOs support a low dropout of 650mV (typ) at 80mA load current. The 3.2µA (typically) low quiescent current is stable over the entire range of output load current (0mA to 80mA). The TPS715A features an internal soft start to lower the inrush current. The built-in overcurrent limit helps protect the regulator in the event of a fault or load short.
The Texas Instruments TPS715A is available in a 3mm×3mm package for high power dissipation applications and a small 2mm×2mm package for hand-held and ultra-portable applications. The 3mm×3-mm package is also available as a non-magnetic package for medical imaging applications.
