Texas Instruments TCA9416EVM Translator Evaluation Module

Texas Instruments TCA9416EVM Translator Evaluation Module (EVM) provides configurable loading conditions through adjustable pull-up resistors and bus capacitance for the TCA9416. This feature allows designers to easily test the performance of the device in their system. A designer can evaluate the TCA9416 at different loading conditions (pull-up resistors and bus capacitance), VCC voltages, and series resistances if needed. The back of the evaluation module is populated with the DTM package (denoted as U1). The Texas Instruments TCA9416EVM supports the DDF package (denoted as U2); however, it must be populated by the designer.

Features

  • Adjustable pull-up resistors on both sides of the TCA9416 with jumper shunts
  • Adjustable load capacitance on both sides of the TCA9416 with DIP switches
  • Test points on SDA and SCL on both sides of the TCA9416
  • Male header connections to all TCA9416 pins for ease of use
  • Unpopulated DDF package (denoted as U2 on the top side of the board)

Required Equipment

  • Power supply
    • Capable of supplying the desired voltage to the TCA9416 and I2C bus
  • 4-channel oscilloscope
    • To observe I2C transactions on both sides of the TCA9416
  • Microcontroller, processor, or digital analyzer
    • So the user can send and receive I2C
