Texas Instruments OPT4003DNPQ1EVM Evaluation Module is designed to quickly and easily demonstrate the OPT4003-Q1 sensor’s performance. The OPT4003-Q1 dual-channel (visible and infrared), automotive, high-speed, high-precision, digital ambient light sensor is developed for use in various lighting conditions and behind cover materials.
The TI OPT4003DNPQ1EVM Evaluation Module includes a set of two printed circuit boards (PCBs). The first is the OPTMBEVM board that comprises a USB interface to communicate with a computer running a graphical user interface (GUI) evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board, and an MSP430™ microcontroller that acts as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. This board also supplies power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The second board is the OPT4003-Q1 coupon board, which incorporates the OPT4003-Q1 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard, permitting quick evaluation using the GUI software when plugged in and removing the coupon for direct access to the device pins for assessment.
