Texas Instruments OPT4001DTSEVM Evaluation Module provides the requirements and interface options for evaluating the OPT4001 in the DTS package. The OPT4001 is a high-speed, high-precision digital ambient light sensor used in various lighting conditions and behind different cover materials.
The TI OPT4001DTSEVM evaluation module incorporates two PCBs, the first is the OPTMBEVM motherboard, and the second is the OPT4001 coupon board. The OPTMBEVM motherboard provides a USB interface to communicate with a computer running GUI evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board, and an MSP430 microprocessor that acts as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. Additionally, the board also allows power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC.
The second board is the OPT4001 coupon board, which includes the OPT4001 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard allowing quick evaluation using the software when plugged in. It will enable the coupon to be removed for direct access to the device pins for assessment in a system.
