Texas Instruments DS560DF810 56Gbps Eight-Channel Retimer

Texas Instruments DS560DF810 56Gbps Eight-Channel Retimer is a multi-rate retimer with integrated signal conditioning. It extends the robustness and reach of lossy, long, crosstalk-impaired high-speed serial links. Each channel in the DS560DF810 independently locks to symbol rates (NRZ and PAM4) in a continuous range from 19.6 to 28.9GBd or any supported sub-rate. The integrated CDR function is ideal for front-port optical module applications to retime the high-speed serial data and reset the jitter budget. These features allow for individual lane forward error correction (FEC) pass-through. The DS560DF810 also supports automatic lane rate switching for CDR lock up to five combinations of modulation types and baud rates without host intervention.

The advanced equalization features of the Texas Instruments DS560DF810 include an RX feed-forward equalizer (FFE), continuously adaptive continuous-time linear equalizer (CTLE), programmable, low-jitter 4-tap TX feed-forward equalizer (FFE) filter, and decision feedback equalizer (DFE). These features enable reach extension for lossy interconnects such as direct-attach copper (DAC) cables and backplanes with multiple crosstalk and connectors. Diagnostic capabilities include a 2D PAM4/NRZ eye opening monitor (EOM), a non-destructive PAM4/NRZ vertical eye height monitor, a PRBS pattern generator with an error injector module, PRBS error checker, and an on-die temperature sensor. These features help gauge the link’s margin and can be used to monitor the system’s health over time. The DS560DF810 can be configured either through an external EEPROM or I2C. Up to 16 devices can share a single EEPROM.
