Texas Instruments bq24800EVM Controller Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments bq24800EVM Controller Evaluation Module (EVM) is an SMBus 2-cell to 4-cell hybrid power boost mode battery charge controller with hybrid boost and processor hot monitoring. The input voltage range is between 4.5V and 24V, with a programmable output of 2–4 cells charge voltage and 128mA to 8.128A charge current. This Texas Instruments evaluation module does not include the EV2400 interface device. This must be ordered separately to evaluate the bq24800EVM.

Features

  • Host-controlled 2-S to 4-S battery buck charger with 3.2V to 24V input; 1V to 19.2V charging output
  • Hybrid power boost mode to provide system power from adapter and battery simultaneously
  • Peak power mode to optimize adapter utilization without discharging the battery
  • Battery-only boost mode to extend battery usable range

Required Equipment

  • A power supply capable of supplying 20V at 5A (power supply #1)
  • A power supply capable of supplying 20V at 3A (power supply #2)
  • A 30V (or above), 5A (or above) electronic load that can operate at constant current mode (load #1)
  • An HP 6060B 3–60V/0–60A, 300W system DC electronic load, or equivalent (load #2)
  • Seven Fluke 75 multimeters, (equivalent or better), or four equivalent voltage meters and three equivalent current meters
    • The current meters must be capable of measuring 5A+ current
  • A computer with at least one USB port and a USB cable
  • EV2400 USB driver and BQStudio software
  • EV2400 hardware kit
