STMicroelectronics VIPERGAN50 High Voltage Converter is an advanced quasi-resonant offline high voltage converter with E-mode GaN HEMT. The VIPERGAN50 is designed for medium power quasi-resonant ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching at switch turn-on) flyback converters, capable of providing an output power up to 50W in a wide range. The High Voltage Converter integrates a complete set of features that deliver an extremely flexible and easy-to-use chip and help to design a highly efficient offline power supply.
The ZVS quasi-resonant operation with the dynamic blanking time feature and the valley synchronization function allows turning on the power switch always at the valley of the drain resonance. Ultimately, the operation and features result in a reduction of switching losses and maximization of the overall efficiency at any input line and load condition. The advanced power management with low quiescent achieves low stand-by consumptions. The feed-forward compensation reduces the maximum output peak power variation over the entire input voltage range.
In addition to the above functions, the VIPERGAN50 supports protection features that considerably increase the end-products safety and reliability. These protections include output overvoltage protection, overtemperature protection (OTP), overload protection (OLP), and the brown-in/out protection that sets the input voltage level to power on and power off the converter. The input overvoltage protection (iOVP) protects the system in case of an abnormal increase of the input line. All the protections are auto-restart mode.
