STMicroelectronics STEVAL-LLL012V1 Smart LED Driver Reference Design

STMicroelectronics STEVAL-LLL012V1 Smart LED Driver Reference Design provides a complete example circuit for connected lighting using BLUETOOTH® Low Energy connectivity. The STEVAL-LLL012V1 is based on the HVLED001B High Power Factor Flyback Controller, which is an enhanced peak current mode controller able to control High Power Factor (HPF) Flyback or Buck-Boost. Connectivity is provided by a  BLUENRG-M2SP Low Power Bluetooth Module.

The STMicroelectronics STEVAL-LLL012V1 Reference Design is composed of a Power Board and a Connectivity Board. 

The Power Board is a single-stage LED driver circuit with High Power Factor (HPF) and low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) tailored to LED power supply specifications for smart-home lighting applications.

On the primary side, the HVLED001B Controller manages the AC-DC HPF Flyback Converter. Primary side regulation and optocoupler control are applied independently on the chip, both exploiting precise regulation and very low standby power under no-load conditions. The converter supplies a maximum power output of 35W.  The Power Board can drive 0.7A LEDs in 24V to 48V range as well as the universal input range (90V to 265VAC) with very high power factor and a very low input current distortion. The power supply standby consumption is less than 500mW. The Power Board also provides 3.3V supply voltage (J12 pin 1) to the Connectivity Board (connected via J12) and to a common GND (J12 pin 4).

The Connectivity Board hosts the BLUENRG-M2SP Blue Module, allowing the user to use a smartphone to control the enable/disable state (J12 pin 3) and the PWM dimming (J12 pin 2) signals.

STSW-LLL012FW Software

The STMicroelectronics STSW-LLL012FW Software is designed to control LED lighting in a smart-home scenario based on BLE mesh wireless networking using the STEVAL-LLL012V1 Smart LED Driver Reference Design. The STSW-LLL012FW Software enables remote dimming plus ON/OFF control from a single Android or iOS phone device, together with the ST BLE Mesh mobile app. This software can be used to test the BLUENRG-M2SP connectivity and HVLED001B LED power control functionality or to develop custom solutions.
