Skyworks Solutions Inc. SI828X-AAWB-KIT Isolated Gate Driver Board provides a reference design for driving Wolfspeed XM3 1200V SiC (Silicon Carbide) Half Bridge Power Modules. The XM3 Half Bridge Power Modules maximize the benefits of Silicon Carbide while keeping the Module and system design robust, simple, and cost-effective. With half the weight and volume of a standard 62mm module, the XM3 Power Modules maximize power density while minimizing loop inductance and enabling simple power bussing.
The Skyworks Solutions Inc. SI828X-AAWB-KIT Gate Driver Board features a two-channel isolated gate driver reference design in a half-bridge configuration with a differential digital interface. The device also includes an optimized on-board isolated power supply, DESAT protection, gate drive current boost, and user-configurable turn-on (RH), and turn-off (RL) gate resistors. Status indicator LEDs and test points enable simple evaluation and prototyping.
The GDB+XM3 combination is well-suited for target automotive (EV drivetrain and chargers) and industrial (motor drives and power supplies) applications.
Extensive pre-testing of the Skyworks isolated gate drivers and Wolfspeed SiC FETs enables design engineers to implement system power switching stages easily.
