Skyworks Solutions SI3404B3V2KIT 3.3V Class 2 PoE PD Evaluation Kit provides a reference design for a power supply in a Power over Ethernet (PoE) Powered Device (PD) application, based on the Si3404 PoE IC. Skyworks Si3404 is a highly integrated, IEEE 802.3at Type 1-compliant, Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) Switching Regulator. The Si3404 integrates all power management and control functions required in a Power-over-Ethernet application.

The SI3404B3V2KIT Evaluation Kit features a complete buck converter reference circuit, with a single Si3404 managing the PoE interface and DC-DC conversion. The buck converter circuit outputs up to 2.1A at 3.3V, for a total power of 7W. The Evaluation Kit is also offered in 5V/1.4A, 12V/1.25A, and 24V/0.625A variants.

The Evaluation Kit is shipped with silicon type diode bridges installed. If higher efficiency is needed, the silicon type diodes can be replaced with Schottky diodes.
