Skyworks Solutions SI3404B24V3KIT 24V Class 3 PoE PD Evaluation Kit provides a reference design for a power supply in a Power over Ethernet (PoE) Powered Device (PD) application, based on the Si3404 PoE IC. The Si3404 is a highly integrated, IEEE 802.3at Type 1-compliant, Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) Switching Regulator. The Si3404 integrates all power management and control functions required in a Power-over-Ethernet application.
The SI3404B24V3KIT Evaluation Kit features a complete buck converter reference circuit, with a single Si3404 managing the PoE interface and DC-DC conversion. The buck converter circuit outputs up to 0.625A at 24V, for a total power of 15W. The Evaluation Kit is also offered in 3.3V/2.1A, 5V/1.4A, and 12V/1.25A variants.
The Evaluation Kit is shipped with silicon type diode bridges installed. If higher efficiency is needed, the silicon type diodes can be replaced with Schottky diodes.
The chart shows end-to-end efficiency. The voltage drop of the diode bridge is included. LEDs are removed.
