Semtech GS12170-IBE3 SDI/HDMI Bridge Chip supports SDI interface standards from HD-SDI (ST 292) to UHD-SDI at 12Gb/s (ST 2082-1). This chip can operate in one of three modes: HDMI to SDI bridge mode, SDI to HDMI bridge mode, and SDI gearbox mode. The GS12170-IBE3 SDI/HDMI bridge chip offers the ideal solution for chip-to-chip connectivity with TMDS signaling for UHDTV products requiring a 12Gb/s UHD-SDI interface. In the HDMI to SDI mode, GS12170-IBE3 extracts all HDMI InfoFrames, including HDR metadata, and video payload information automatically converts to SMPTE ST 352 packets. In the SDI to HDMI mode, the chip extracts SDI SMPTE ST 352 packets and converts them to equivalent InfoFrames. In SDI gearbox mode, the device automatically records the output serial stream according to the ST 352 packets received.
The GS12170-IBE3 is packaged in a space-saving 12mm x 12mm 196-ball BGA package. This GS12170-IBE3 SDI/HDMI bridge chip features automatic skew compensation for multi-link SDI inputs and automatic input link order handling for multi-link SDI inputs. The GS12170-IBE3 bridge chip offers low power operation of less than 2W typically. This chip operates from 1.71V to 1.89V supply voltage range and -40°C to 85°C temperature range. This GS12170-IBE3 SDI/HDMI bridge chip is ideally used in UHDTV monitors and displays UHDTV cameras, camcorders, and HDMI extenders.
