Renesas Electronics FS3000 Air Velocity Sensor Module

Renesas Electronics FS3000 Air Velocity Sensor Module is a low-profile, surface-mount flow sensor designed to measure direct air speeds up to 15 meters per second. The FS3000 is targeted at air handling systems, HVAC, analytic gas monitoring systems, data centers, and air quality systems to detect failures in the fan or blower, fan speed control, or filter clogging.

Conventional methods of monitoring critical component temperature are by arrays of temperature sensors or the internal temperature sensor in the MCU. These methods are inaccurate and complex as each system board needs to be individually modeled. The FS3000 measures the direct local air, which allows the system control to make adjustments quickly. By providing a closed-loop control, systems can potentially reduce the energy cost of the system.

The FS3000 Air Velocity Module utilizes a series of MEMS thermocouples, or thermopiles, which provide high sensitivity. The solid thermal isolation of the MEMS sensing element along with the silicon-carbide film offers excellent abrasive wear resistance and long-term reliability.

The Renesas Electronics FS3000 Air Velocity Sensor Module is available in an 8.0mm x 9.1mm x 4.4mm surface-mount package ideal for low-profile applications.
