MultiTech Wireless Sensors/Bridges

MultiTech Wireless Sensors/Bridges are long-range wireless sensors for the Internet of Things (IoT) that utilize the LoRaWAN wireless standard. The dry contact sensors/bridges detect a connection between two wires. These sensors send an alert over the wireless network when the wires are either shorted or opened. The wireless dry contact sensors/bridges feature a fully integrated internal antenna and enclosure tamper and wall mount tamper detection.

The current loop sensors/bridges use a 10-bit ADC to measure an analog value between 4mA and 20mA with a 10μA resolution. These sensors send an alert if the measured value rises above or falls below the configured thresholds. The maxbotix ultrasonic sensors to LoRaWAN bridge is an outdoor/industrial version and provides LoRaWAN connectivity for maxbotix products.

Features

  • Built-in radio that talks directly with LoRaWAN wireless networks
  • Two types of tamper detection:
    • Enclosure tamper that detects if the packaging of the sensor itself is opened or broken
    • Wall mount tamper that detects if the sensor has been removed from the wall or mounting point
  • 200,000+ transmissions on a single battery and a 5 to 10 years battery life depending on usage
  • Fully integrated internal antenna
  • Over the air sensor configuration in the field
  • Automatic low battery reporting and supervisory messages

Applications

  • Maxbotix ultrasonic sensors:
    • Tank level monitoring and measurements
    • Factory bin level detection
    • Waste management and garbage levels
    • Smart parking systems
    • Snow level monitoring
    • Rangefinder distance measurement
  • Dry contact sensors/bridges:
    • Doorbell press detection
    • Remote button press detection
    • Remote reed switch detection
    • General-purpose contact sensor (two-wire open/close detection)
