Microchip Technology EV62V87A SAM-IoT WX v2 Development Board

Microchip Technology EV62V87A SAM-IoT WX v2 Development Board is a small, easy-to-expand hardware platform used to evaluate and develop IoT solutions. This Dev Board features ATSAMD21G18 Arm® Cortex®-M0+ based Flash microcontroller (MCU), ATECC608B secure element, and the ATWINC1510 Wi-Fi® controller module. The SAM-IoT WX v2 is preconfigured for Google Cloud™ IoT Core and compatible with AWS IoT, Microsoft Azure, and any TLS networks with code examples for WolfSSL, mBedTLS, or CycloneSSL. The ATSAMD21G18A MCU reads the data from the onboard light and temperature sensors and the pre-programmed demonstration application to publish data to the cloud every second. Any data the cloud receives from the sensors is sent to the virtual serial port and can be displayed in a serial terminal application. The ATWINC1510 Wi-Fi controller module provides a connection to the Internet-enabled Wi-Fi network. The ATECC608B secure element authenticates the hardware with the cloud to uniquely identify every board.

Google Cloud IoT Core provides a fully managed service that enables designers to easily and securely connect, manage, and ingest data from devices at a global scale. The platform collects, processes, and analyzes data in real-time to enable designers to improve operational efficiency in embedded designs.

The SAM-IoT WG v2 Development Board includes the Microchip ATWINC1510 Module, a single-band 2.4GHz network controller specifically optimized for low-power IoT applications. Featuring extremely low power consumption, the ability to store various security certificates, and 8Mb of on-board Flash memory, the ATWINC1510 Module offloads all networking tasks from the main CPU while automatically providing a secure socket connection and server authentication to the Google Cloud.

The included ATECC608A CryptoAuthentication Device provides a trusted and protected identity for each device that can be securely authenticated. All ATECC608A ICs come pre-registered on Google Cloud IoT Core and are ready for use with zero-touch provisioning.

The SAM-IoT WG v2 Development Board is designed from the ground up to take full advantage of Microchip MPLAB® X IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC) Rapid Prototyping Tool. The Development Board is also compatible with more than 450 MikroElektronika Click boards™ that expand sensors and actuator options. Developers who purchase the kit will have access to an online portal for immediate visualization of their sensors’ data being published. Supported by complete board schematics and demo code, the PIC-IoT WG development board helps get customers to market quickly with differentiated IoT end products.
