Infineon Technologies ICL88xx PFC-SSR Flyback Converter Demo Boards are reference designs based on the ICL8800, ICL8810, and ICL8820 High Power Factor Flyback Controllers. The Flyback Converter Demo Boards are configured as Constant Voltage (CV) Secondary-Side Regulated (SSR) systems and are intended to be used with a Constant Current (CC) converter for LED lighting applications.
The Infineon Technologies ICL88xx PFC-SSR Flyback Converter Demo Boards provide two-stage topologies, offering convenient scalability of power on the primary side and scalability of the features on the secondary side.
As a default setup, the reference design board is assembled with a start-up circuit based on a depletion-mode BSS126I MOSFET on a compact adapter board. This setup offers the lowest standby losses. If low standby consumption is not necessary as an option, the start-up circuit can be changed to a resistive start-up.
The FC-SSR Flyback Converter Demo Boards are provided with two regulation circuits on separate adapter boards. Both circuits are designed as plug-and-play solutions, but at least one must be connected to the mainboard.
The two boards shall show the trade-off between costs, where one of the adapter boards offers a lower-cost solution with low-power standby performance, while the other adapter board demonstrates an overall better performance.
