Coilcraft High Power PoE Signal Path Magnetics

Coilcraft High Power PoE (Power over Ethernet) Signal Path Magnetics is a reference circuit design that meets the current requirement of Gigabit Ethernet PoE Plus. This reference design is based on the HPX2126L Isolation Transformer and the HPF2187L Common Mode Choke. This High Power PoE Signal Path Magnetics design features an open circuit inductance of ≥350µH with a 38mA DC offset applied from 0°C to 70°C. This reference circuit is capable of handling 3.8A of injected current.

In addition to the HPX2126L Isolation Transformer and the HPF2187L Common Mode Choke, six capacitors are required to complete the circuit. The capacitor across the primary of the isolation transformer on the TX side tunes the circuit by matching the output capacitance of the chipset being used, enabling this circuit to be used with virtually all chipsets.
