Broadcom Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM) detect light, even down to the single photon level. These Broadcom Silicon arrays of avalanche photodiodes are operated in Geiger mode and are connected in parallel to form a SiPM. Several hundred to thousands of SPADs can be combined depending on the light source and application. Each SPAD includes an integrated series resistor that quenches the avalanche and resets the diode for the next incoming photon. With a signal output of an electrical current proportional to the number of photons hitting the sensor, the SiPM boasts a very high gain and fast response time. The SiPM is ideal for fields requiring weak light detection and precise timing information like scintillator-based detectors and time-of-flight systems.
NUV-MT SiPM with high sensitivity ranging from the NUV to the red wavelengths of the light spectrum with an unprecedented 63% PDE at 420nm. The MT for metal-filled trench combines the highest PDE with reduced correlated noise (cross-talk).
All NUV-MT products come in a newly developed overmolded PCB package with the highest transparency ranging from 250nm up to 900nm and beyond, allowing excellent robustness without compromising sensitivity.
Applications are medical, life sciences, safety, security, and HEP experiments, mainly when scintillators are applied. The NUV-MT offer best-in-class PDE and timing performance for TOF-PET applications.
Broadcom’s blue-sensitive SiPM products are sensitive from 250nm up to 900nm and have a peak sensitivity of 420nm. Through Silicon Via (TSV) technology and a Chip-Scale Package (CSP), achieve high tiling density. A layer of glass that is highly transparent down to UV wavelengths protects the NUV-HD SIPMs.

Broadcom has acquired the KETEK SiPM product portfolio. The sensitivity ranges from the NUV to the red wavelengths of the visible light spectrum, with a peak sensitivity at 430nm. The k-type devices are drop-in compatible PMT-replacement products based on SiPM for medical, life sciences, flow cytometry, and fluorescence detection.
