Apex Microtechnology SA12 200kHz Switching Frequency PWM Amplifiers are 15A, 200V amplifiers that deliver up to 3000W to the load. These devices switch at a very high 200kHz frequency and are internally generated via a clock input stage. This feature divides the internal 400kHz oscillator by two while requiring no external components. External oscillators may be used to lower the switching frequency or to synchronize multiple amplifiers. The SA12L delivers an even higher switching frequency performance over an extended temperature range -40°C to +85°C.
The Apex Microtechnology SA12 includes protection features like current sensing to provide amplitude and direction data for each half of the device’s bridge circuitry. It allows the shutdown input to turn off all four drivers of the H-bridge output. A high-side current limit and the programmable low-side current limit protect the amplifier from shorts to supply or ground in addition to load shorts. The die’s direct temperature sensing protects the H-bridge output MOSFETs from thermal overloads. This PWM amplifier is housed in a 12-pin hermetic and isolated metal power package. It requires only three square inches of board space.
