Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated MAX20459 Automotive Step-Down Converter

Analog Devices MAX20459 Automotive High-Current Step-Down Converter integrates a 3A high-efficiency, automotive-grade, step-down converter, a USB Type-C DFP controller, and automatic BC1.2 DCP, Apple®, plus Samsung® dedicated charger-detection circuitry. The MAX20459 includes a USB load current-sense amplifier and configurable feedback-adjustment circuit designed to provide automatic USB voltage compensation.

The Analog Devices MAX20459 Automotive Converter is optimized for high-frequency operation and features programmable frequency selection from 310kHz to 2.2MHz, allowing optimization of efficiency, noise, and board space based on application requirements. The MAX20459 provides flexible configuration and advanced diagnostic options for both standalone and supervised applications. The converter can operate as a true one-chip solution, offering advanced fault auto-recovery and enables programming using external resistors and/or internal I2C registers.

The MAX20459 is designed to minimize the required external components and layout area. The device is available in a small 5mm x 5mm 32-pin TQFN package.
