Analog Devices Inc. LTM4686B Demonstration Board (DC3089A) is an evaluation platform for the LTM4686B Single 28A μModule® Regulator. The LTM4686B features a digital power management system communicating over the PMBus. This feature is an open standard I2C-based digital interface protocol. The device also offers remote configurability. The LTM4686B integrates precision mixed-signal circuitry, EEPROM, power MOSFETs, fast analog control loops, inductors, and supporting components.
The Analog Devices Inc. LTM4686B Demonstration Board powers up to default settings and produces power based on configuration resistors without the need for any serial bus communication. This feature allows easy evaluation of the DC-DC converter.
The Demonstration Board can also be connected to a PC via the DC1613A USB to I2C/SMBus/PMBus Controller. The LTpowerPlay software can then be used to reconfigure the target device on the fly and store the configuration in EEPROM, view telemetry of voltage, current, temperature, and fault status.
LTpowerPlay is a powerful Windows-based development environment that supports Analog Devices Inc. Power Management ICs using each device’s specified Demo Board. LTpowerPlay can also be used in an offline mode (with no hardware present) to build multichip configuration files that can be saved and reloaded at a later time.
LTpowerPlay can function as a diagnostic tool during board bring-up to program or tweak the power management scheme in a system or to diagnose power issues when bringing up rails. The software also includes an automatic update feature to keep the software current with the latest set of device drivers and documentation.
