Analog Devices Inc. EVAL-LT8333-AZ & EVAL-LT8333-BZ Evaluation Boards

Analog Devices Inc. EVAL-LT8333-AZ and EVAL-LT8333-BZ Evaluation Boards are demonstration platforms for the LT8333 Current-Mode DC-DC Converter. The LT8333 integrates a 40V, 3A power switch and operates from a 2.8V to 40V input. With a unique single feedback pin architecture, this device is capable of Boost, SEPIC, or inverting configurations. Burst Mode operation consumes as low as 9μA quiescent current to maintain high efficiency at very low output currents while keeping typical output ripple below 15mV.

The LT8333 operates over an input range of 2.8V to 40V, suitable for automotive, telecom, and industrial applications. The converter provides adjustable and synchronizable operation from 300kHz to 2MHz with the SSFM option. The LT8333 integrates other popular features such as soft-start, bias pin, input undervoltage lockout. The device can exhibit a low quiescent current down to 9μA in BURST mode and 1μA in shutdown, making it ideal for battery-operated systems. The LT8333 is offered in a thermally enhanced 3mm x 3mm DFN-10 package.

The EVAL-LT8333-AZ features the LT8333 in a SEPIC configuration. The EVAL-LT8333-AZ operates with a switching frequency of 2MHz and is designed to convert a 3V to 26V source to a 12V output. The converter can output up to 1.25A depending on the input voltage.

The EVAL-LT8333-BZ features the LT8333 in a Boost configuration. The EVAL-LT8333-BZ operates with a switching frequency of 2MHz and is designed to convert a 4.5V to 20V source to a 24V output. The converter can output up to 2A depending on the input voltage.

The Analog Devices Inc. EVAL-LT8333-AZ and EVAL-LT8333-BZ Evaluation Boards feature Spread Spectrum Frequency Modulation (SSFM) and EMI filters to optimize EMI performance. The PCB layouts are optimized for good EMI performance and small solution size. The Evaluation Boards include a selectable jumper, JP1, to aid in selecting the desired SYNC pin mode of operation. At light load, either pulse-skipping (PULSE SKIP) or low-ripple Burst Mode® operation (BURST) can be selected to improve efficiency.
