ams OSRAM TMF8805 1D Time-of-Flight (TOF) Sensor is an optical distance sensor module that integrates a 940nm Class 1 eye-safe VCSEL, a high-sensitivity SPAD array, a precision Time-to-Digital converter, and a low-power microcontroller sub-system. The embedded histogram algorithm can detect cover glass and objects behind glass, selecting the object with the highest SNR while compensating for dirt and smudges on the cover glass. Together these components form a high-accuracy TOF measurement solution capable of detecting an object regardless of its color, texture, or reflectivity with a range of 20mm to 2500mm. This device is ideally suited to world-facing camera LDAF applications, user presence detection, collision avoidance, object detection, and other applications.
The TMF8805 is controlled by an I2C bus, one interrupt pin, and two GPIO pins. The device uses an I2C serial communication protocol for communication. The device supports 7-bit chip addressing and standard, fast mode, and fast mode plus modes.
