STMicroelectronics VL53L4ED Time-of-Flight (ToF) High Accuracy Proximity Sensor is designed for high-accuracy, short-range measurements that require extended temperature capability. This high-performance sensor features a short distance linearity of 1mm and is designed with autonomous low-power mode with an interrupt programmable threshold to wake the host. The VL53L4ED sensor offers an 18° field of view for measurements from 1mm up to 1300mm in standard conditions and up to 1150mm under extended temperature. This proximity sensor also delivers accurate distance measurements of up to 800mm in ambient light conditions (5klx). The VL53L4ED proximity sensor supports an effective temperature range of -40°C to 105°C, guaranteeing accurate measurements even under extreme temperatures.
The VL53L4ED proximity sensor captures absolute distance measurements independent of the target’s color and reflectance properties. This sensor features a fast-ranging frequency of up to 100Hz and is housed in a miniature reflowable package. Typical applications include robotics, industrial automation, system activation, occupancy, presence detection, biometric distance measurement, and liquid level monitoring.
