Nexperia NEVB21-USBC1UL USB Type-C™ ESD Evaluation Board is designed to demonstrate miniaturized ESD protection for USB Type-C ports. The NEVB21-USBC1UL Evaluation Board showcases ESD Protection Diodes in miniature 0.63mm x 0.33mm x 0.25mm DFN0603-3 packages. These devices provide two protection devices in one housing, offering the benefits of TrEOS technology, very low capacitance, very low clamping, and very high robustness. These devices also provide outstanding RF performance on high-speed data lines.
The Nexperia NEVB21-USBC1UL Evaluation Board features the PUSB3BB2DF, PESD4V0Z2BCDF, and PESD5V5U1BCSF ESD Protection Diode Arrays. Each ESD Protection Device is designed to protect specific data lines and is housed in the DFN0603-3 package. The Evaluation Board also includes the PTVS22VZ1USK Transient Voltage Suppressor in a very small leadless DSN1608-2 (SOD964) package.
The NEVB21-USBC1UL demonstrates the USB Type-C functionality as a plug-and-play solution. The Evaluation Board connects between the Host Device and a Client Device that supports USB3.2. To offer good RF performance, the Evaluation Board is designed to keep parasitics to an absolute minimum allowing the super-speed lines (TX/RX) to have maximum bandwidth. For this reason, additional USB Type-C Breakout Boards will be needed if surge or burst tests (according to IEC61000) are conducted.
