Infineon Technologies TLE4971 XENSIV™ Coreless Current Sensors

Infineon TLE4971 XENSIV™ Coreless Current Sensors are high-precision coreless current sensors dedicated to automotive and industrial applications. With an 8x8mm SMD package, these miniature sensors offer the highest ampacity by a small form factor for easy integration and board area saving. Infineon offers four pre-programmed variants with full-scale measurement ranges of 120A, 75A, 50A, and 25A. The bandwidth of 210kHz allows addressing wide range applications GaN and SiC applications.

The TLE4971 family addresses applications like onboard chargers (OBC), auxiliary drives, and ground fail detection in automotive. The extended temperature range to 125°C also widens the use case, for example, industrial general-purpose and servo drives, robots, fast-chargers, and PV inverters. Also, at the highest ampacity of 120A peak, due to the superior thermal performance of the TISON package, customers save effort and cost to manage the temperature in the user’s systems. Stray field robust design with differential magnetic field measurement allows accurate in-phase measurement even in harsh environments. As a trusted industrial current sensor manufacturer, Infineon’s XENSIV™ portfolio also includes UL-certified coreless magnetic sensors for various industrial applications. The Infineon TLE4971 XENSIV™ Coreless Current Sensors are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.

Features

  • Best-in-class thermal performance for high currents due to the device’s innovative TISON-8 package and isolation against high voltages
  • An integrated current rail with typical 220µΩ insertion resistance and less than 1nH insertion inductance eliminates the need for external calibration and enables ultra-low power loss
  • Bi-directional AC and DC current measurement IC with an analog interface and two fast overcurrent detection outputs that support the protection of the power circuitry
  • Galvanic functional isolation due to the magnetic sensing principle
  • Very low sensitivity error over temperature
  • Two fast over-current detection signals with a reaction time of typical 0.7µs
