Broadcom ACPL-C72x Precision Miniature Isolation Amplifiers include the ACPL-C72B, ACPL-C72A, and ACPL-C720 series. The isolation amplifiers are intended for current sensing in electronic power converters, including motor drives and renewable energy systems.
The ACPL-C72x is optimized to allow a ±50mV input voltage range reducing power loss on the shunt resistor. The ACPL-C72A (±1% gain tolerance) and the ACPL-C720 (±3% gain tolerance) are recommended for general applications. The ACPL-C72B (±0.5% gain tolerance) can be implemented for high-precision applications. The amps utilize a single 5V supply and deliver excellent linearity and dynamic performance of 65dB SNR.
The Broadcom ACPL-C72x has high common-mode transient immunity (25kV/μs) that supplies the precision and stability required to accurately monitor motor current in high-noise motor control environments, resulting in smoother control (less “torque ripple”) in various types of motor control applications.
Combined with superior optical coupling technology, the ACPL-C72x employs a sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) analog-to-digital converter, chopper-stabilized amplifiers, and a fully differential circuit topology to provide unequaled isolation mode noise rejection, low offset, high gain accuracy, and stability.
The device is available in a compact, auto-insertable stretched SO-8 (SSO-8) package that satisfies worldwide regulatory safety standards.
