Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MPF42791 Battery Pack Fuel Gauges provide complete status information on lithium-ion battery strings up to 16 series cells. These gauges with resistance detection and thermal model determine the internal State-Of Charge (SOC) and State-Of-Health (SOH) for each cell and the full pack. The MPF42791 gauges also determine impedance, remaining runtime, charge time, and instantaneous available power. These battery pack fuel gauges support a 5-Level LED SOC indicator with a push-button trigger and various lithium cell chemistries and cell sizes. The MPF42791 gauges also support up to 400kHz I2C with CRC for robust communication.
The MPF42791 battery pack fuel gauges can achieve SOC accuracy within 3% when paired with the MP279x battery monitor. These gauges can also be paired with Analog Front-End (AFE) or battery stack monitors. The MPF42791 gauges operate at a 3V to 3.6V supply voltage range and a -40°C to 85°C junction temperature range. These gauges are simple to use and available in a compact TQFN-32 (4mm x 4mm) package. Typical applications include renewable energy, industrial robots, floor cleaners, cordless tools, and gardening equipment.
