NXP Semiconductors OMPCA9959LEDEV Evaluation Board

NXP Semiconductors OMPCA9959LEDEV Evaluation Board is designed to evaluate the PCA9959 LED lighting driver. This board features LEDs for color mixing, blinking, and dimming demonstrations. The graphical interface helps to explore the different functions of the driver. The OMPCA9959LEDEV evaluation board can be connected in series with other SPI-bus demo boards to create an evaluation system. Typical applications include Red/Green/Blue/Amber (RGBA) LED drivers, LED displays, LCD backlights, and keypad backlights for cellular phones.

Features

  • Evaluate the PCA9959 LED lighting driver
  • Gradation control:
    • Support up to four groups of LED gradation control
    • Each LED channel assigned to one of four groups
    • For each group, the PCA9959 driver supports 64-grid brightness control
    • Each LED output has its own 6-bit resolution (64-steps) preset current configuration with an absolution accuracy of ±8%
  • Power:
    • 2.7V to 5.5V supply voltage
    • 170μA low standby current
  • LED current:
    • 63mA / 5.5V output drive per channel
    • Output current accuracy:
      • ±5% channel to channel
      • ±7% chip to chip
  • Output current adjusts through the resistor at REXT pin
  • Interface:
    • 10MHz SPI interface
    • Output Enable (OE) pin
