Texas Instruments LM74810EVM Controller Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments LM74810EVM Controller Evaluation Module (EVM) helps designers evaluate the operation and performance of the LM7481-Q1, ideal diode controllers in reverse battery protection applications. This evaluation module demonstrates the Texas Instruments LM7481-Q1 Ideal Diode controller’s capability to provide reverse battery protection for higher power (>100W) automotive ECU designs. The device controls two back-back N-channel power MOSFETs with ideal diode MOSFET connected first followed by the second MOSFET for switched output and power path cut-off.

Features

  • Reverse battery protection for high power ECU designs
  • Switched output and power path cut-off
  • Over voltage protection
  • Meets automotive transient immunity test requirements
  • Two external N-Channel MOSFETs connected back-back in a common drain configuration

Required Equipment

  • Power Supplies – One adjustable power supply 0V to 40V output, 0A to 15A output current limit
  • Oscilloscope – DPO2024 or equivalent, three 10x voltage probes, and a DC current probe capable of measuring 15A
  • Meters – One Digital Multi Meter minimum needed
  • Loads – One resistive load or equivalent which can tolerate up to 15A DC load at 12V

Applications

  • Automotive reverse battery protection
  • ADAS domain controller
  • Sensor HUB
  • Head unit
  • USB HUBs
  • Power path protection, Power MUX, Power ORing
