NXP Semiconductors 8MPLUSLPD4-PEVK Power Measurement Evaluation Kit provides a comprehensive demonstration and development platform for the i.MX 8M Plus Quad/Dual and i.MX 8M Plus QuadLite applications processors. The 8MPLUSLPD4-PEVK is fully software compatible with the 8MPLUSLPD4-EVK Evaluation Kit and includes additional hardware to measure the i.MX 8M Plus SoC power consumption at run time. The 8MPLUSLPD4-PEVK Evaluation Kit could therefore be used as a replacement to the 8MPLUSLPD4-EVK.
The NXP Semiconductors i.MX 8M Plus Power Measurement Evaluation Kit features a modular design, consisting of the 8MPLUSLPD4-PWR Compute Module and the 8MPLUS-BB Base Board. The 8MPLUSLPD4-PWR Compute Module includes the i.MX 8M Plus SoC, LPDDR4, eMMC, QSPI, PMIC, and power monitoring circuits. The 8MPLUS-BB Base Board brings out the broad connectivity that is needed for product evaluation.
The i.MX Power Measurement Tool (PMT) provides general control of NXP i.MX8 evaluation kits, collects on-board power consumption information, and provides reports to the user. It integrates a user-friendly GUI with many features, as well as a TUI for command-line operation. All operations are performed through the USB debug connection on compatible and supported evaluation kits.
The PMT is implemented in Python and actively supported for Linux OS distributions (Ubuntu 16.04 and above) and the Windows OS (Windows 10
and above).
The Board Control Utilities (BCU) is a command-line tool designed to monitor real-time power consumption or export the data to Excel for analysis.
