Analog Devices Inc. LT8638S Demo Board DC2929A is an evaluation platform for the LT8638S Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher® 2. The LT8638S is a monolithic, constant frequency, current-mode step-down DC-DC converter based on second-generation Silent Switcher technology. This technology minimizes EMI emissions while delivering high efficiency at high switching frequencies. The LT8638S features integrated input capacitors to optimize all the fast current loops inside and maximize EMI performance by reducing layout sensitivity. This performance makes the LT8638S ideal for noise-sensitive applications and environments.
The Analog Devices Inc. LT8638S Demo Board DC2929A features a pre-installed LT8638S in a 5mm x 4mm LQFN-28 package. The Demo Board is designed to provide a 3.3V output from a 3.9V to 42.0V input. The wide input range allows for various input sources, such as automotive batteries and industrial power supplies. Peak current-mode control with a minimum on-time of as low as 25ns allows high step-down conversion even at high frequencies. The LT8638S switching frequency can be programmed via an oscillator resistor or an external clock over a 200kHz to 3MHz range. The default frequency of the LT8638S Demo Board is 2MHz.
The SYNC/MODE pin on the LT8638S Demo Board is grounded (JP1 at BURST position) by default for low ripple Burst Mode® operation. The Demo Board can be configured into different operation modes using the JP1 and SYNC terminals.
