ISSI eMMC Flash Memory

ISSI eMMC Flash Memory provides the ideal embedded storage solution for automotive, industrial, and medical applications, which require high performance, endurance across a wide range of operating temperatures, and long-term support. These devices follow the JEDEC Embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) 5.1 standard. These products are available in industrial and automotive grades in 100-ball BGA and 153-ball BGA.

The ISSI eMMC integrates NAND Flash memory and an intelligent eMMC controller inside one JEDEC standard package, providing a standard interface to the host. The controller directly manages the NAND flash, implementing functions like bad block management, error handling (ECC), static and dynamic wear-leveling, IOPS optimization, and read sensing. ISSI eMMC devices support Enhanced Mode, where the device can be configured as pseudo-SLC (pSLC) for higher read/write performance, endurance, and reliability.

    • High-speed eMMC protocol

    • Ten-wire bus (clock, 1-bit command, 8-bit data bus) and a hardware reset
  • Supports three different data bus widths: 1-bit (default), 4 bits, 8 bits
    • Data transfer rates are up to 52Mbyte/s (using eight parallel data lines at 52MHz)
    • Single data rate is up to 200Mbyte/s @ 200MHz (HS200)
    • Dual data rate is up to 400Mbyte/s @ 200MHz (HS400)

    • VCCQ = 1.8V/3.3V (Automotive A2 Grade only supports 1.8V VCCQ)
    • VCC = 2.7V to 3.6V

    • Internal error correction code (ECC) is used to protect data communication
    • Internal enhanced data management algorithm
    • The device provides solid protection from sudden power failure, safe-update operations for data content

    • Supports secure erase and trim commands
    • Provides enhanced write protection with permanent and partial protection options
