Texas Instruments OPT3005DTS Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments OPT3005DTS Evaluation Module (EVM) is designed to evaluate the performance of the OPT3005 Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) in the DTS package. This light sensor is used for video surveillance cameras and in various lighting conditions. The OPT3005DTS evaluation module consists of two PCBs, the OPTMBEVM motherboard and the OPT3005 coupon board. The OPTMBEVM motherboard contains a USB interface to communicate with the computer and a socket for plugging in a coupon board and an MSP430 microprocessor. This motherboard also provides power and sends/receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The OPT3005 coupon board contains the OPT3005 sensor and a decoupling capacitor that plugs into the motherboard allowing quick evaluation using TI’s software.
