Texas Instruments TPS7H1111EVM-CVAL Regulator Evaluation Module

Texas Instruments TPS7H1111EVM-CVAL Regulator Evaluation Module (EVM) is an engineering demonstration for the radiation-hardness-assured (RHA) TPS7H1111-SP. The TPS7H1111-SP is an ultra-low noise, high PSRR, low dropout linear regulator (LDO) optimized for powering RF (radio frequency) devices in a space environment. It can source up to 1.5A over a 0.85V to 7V input range with a 2.2V to 14V bias supply.

The Texas Instruments TPS7H1111EVM-CVAL is configured with a default output resistor to regulate a 1.8V VOUT, with a usable VIN range of (1.8V + VDO) to 7V with VBIAS range of (VOUT + 1.6V to 14V). Worst-case VDO ranges from 430mV for VBIAS ≥ (VOUT + 1.6V) to 1.4V with VBIAS = VIN across recommended operating conditions. The evaluation module is capable of delivering up to 1.5A to a load. Achieving the maximum load depends on multiple variables, including input-output power dissipation, board thermal dissipation, and heat removal.

Features

  • 1.5A regulator
  • Ultra-low noise
  • Ultra-high power-supply rejection ratio (PSRR)

Required Equipment

  • Power supply PS1 capable of up to 7V and 1.5A for supplying VIN
    • If testing the current limit functionality, PS1 should be capable of 3A
  • Power supply PS2 capable of up to 14V and 100mA
  • Eload or resistive load capable of > 1.5A (or desired test load)
  • Voltage meter and/or oscilloscope for monitoring VOUT
