Broadcom AFBR-S50LX85D Time-of-Flight Sensor Module is a multi-pixel optical distance and motion measurement sensor module supporting the optical Time-of-Flight principle. The ToF technology focuses on applications needing the highest speed and accuracy at longer distance ranges, with a small size and very low power consumption. The device’s ambient light suppression allows usage outside in full sunlight. The AFBR-S50LX85D accurately measures against white, black, and colored surfaces as well as metallic and retroreflective surfaces.
The Broadcom AFBR-S50LX85D ToF module provides an integrated infrared laser light source and an internal clock source. A single power supply of 5.0V is needed. Data is transferred employing a digital Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) utilizing standard 3.3V CMOS levels. A reference pixel is implemented in addition to the integrated voltage and temperature sensors for system health monitoring. Frame rates of up to 3kHz are supported, depending on the microcontroller, the data streaming mode, and the number of evaluated pixels. For frame rates of up to 100Hz, a dual-frequency (2f) mode is used to complete an unambiguous range of up to 200m.
