Microchip Technology EVB-LAN8841 Evaluation Board

Microchip Technology EVB-LAN8841 Evaluation Board is designed to enable modular attachment to host boards with the Ethernet Development System (EDS) interface. This EVB-LAN8841 board is a plug-in daughter card that interfaces directly with a controller board or mating microchip host processor, such as the SAMA5D3EDS board. The evaluation board incorporates a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T Physical-Layer Transceiver (PHY). This evaluation board is connected to an Ethernet jack with integrated magnetics RJ45, and also, the PHY’s RGMII connections are brought out to a high-speed (HS) multi-pin connector. The EDS baseboard and EVB-LAN8841 offer a flexible platform to evaluate the PHY features using the management interface and the internal memory registers.

The LAN8841 offers industry-standard GMII/MII (Gigabit Media Independent Interface/Media Independent Interface) to connect switches for data transfer at 1000Mbps or 10/100Mbps. This LAN8841 board features five programmable LED outputs for link, activity, and speed. The LAN8841 evaluation board operates at a 3.3V power supply.

Features

  • Five programmable LED outputs for link, activity, and speed
  • Linux drivers available on GitHub
  • Energy-detect power-down mode for reduced power consumption when the cable is not attached
  • EtherSynch® technology IEEE 1588v2/PTP
  • Wake-On-LAN (WOL) support with robust custom-packet detection
  • 3.3V power supply
