Texas Instruments OPT4001DNPQ1EVM Evaluation Module is designed to facilitate the evaluation of the OPT4001-Q1 sensor. The OPT4001-Q1 is an automotive high-speed, high-precision, digital ambient light sensor used for various lighting conditions and behind various cover materials.
The TI OPT4001DNPQ1EVM incorporates two PCBs. The first is the OPTMBEVM board that includes a USB interface to communicate with a computer operating a GUI evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board, and a TI MSP430 microprocessor that serves as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. This board also supplies power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The second board is the OPT4001-Q1 coupon board, which comprises the OPT4001-Q1 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard permitting quick evaluation using the TI software when plugged in. It enables the coupon to be removed for direct access to the device pins for assessment in a system.
