ABLIC S-8240A Battery Protection ICs

ABLIC S-8240A Battery Protection ICs are for lithium-ion/lithium polymer rechargeable batteries. The ICs include high-accuracy voltage detection circuits and delay circuits. The S-8240A Series can protect 1-cell lithium-ion/lithium polymer rechargeable battery packs from overcharge, over-discharge, and overcurrent.

    • Over-discharge detection voltage 2.000V to 3.400V (10mV step) Accuracy ±50mV
    • Over-discharge release voltage 2.000V to 3.400V Accuracy ±100mV
    • Discharge overcurrent detection voltage 0.015V to 0.200V (5mV step) Accuracy ±5mV
    • Load short-circuiting detection voltage 0.065V to 0.500V (25mV step)*3 Accuracy ±40mV
    • Charge overcurrent detection voltage −0.200V to −0.015V (5mV step) Accuracy ±5mV
  • Detection delay times are generated only by an internal circuit (external capacitors are unnecessary)
  • 0V battery charge: Enabled, inhibited
  • Power-down function: Available, unavailable
  • Release condition of discharge overcurrent status: Load disconnection, charger connection
  • Release voltage of discharge overcurrent status: VRIOV, VDIOV
  • High-withstand voltage: VM pin and CO pin: Absolute maximum rating 28V
  • Wide operation temperature range: Ta = −40°C to +85°C
  • Low current consumption
    • During operation: 1.5μA typ., 3.0μA max. (Ta = +25°C)
    • During power-down: 50nA max. (Ta = +25°C)
    • During overdischarge: 500nA max. (Ta = +25°C)
  • Lead-free (Sn 100%), halogen-free
